Biography

Ethel Surany (Etel) began her career as an artist in 1996, in Los Angeles, by studying watercolor techniques with Ed Crimston at San Fernando Valley, California. Later that same year she continued her studies of various media with Marilyn Lazarus. From 1997 to 2001, she polished her talents further with studies at Pierce College in Woodland Hills, California. For two more years, she formally studied with Rosa Odow, and continued to do so until her move to Sun City Anthem, Nevada.

Ethel has been a past board member of the San Fernando Valley Art Club, a member of the San Fernando Valley Watercolor Society, and the Pacific Art Guild. She is a present member of the Nevada Watercolor Society, the Boulder City Art Guild, and City Lights Artist's Gallery all in Nevada.

She holds a teaching certificate in multi-dimensional paper art with Miju Lee and "Simple Painting" by Frank Clark. Ethel teaches watercolor, acrylic, collage, and cloisonne techniques at Sun City Anthem, JoAnn's shop, and the Department of Parks and Recreation. More recently, her art was juried in at the Derfield Center exhibition and at the Las Vegas Fine Arts Museum.
